SER, manufacturer and largest German system house for integrated Enterprise Content Management solutions, and Recommind, one of the world's leading providers of intelligent search engine technology and solutions for the fully automated indexing of documents in expert quality, today announced their future extensive collaboration.
MindServer™ technology is based on the patented PLSA method and, due to the contextual, associative search functionality, provides better results in a considerably shorter time, thereby ensuring a significant increase in productivity. The patented ”machine-learning" technologies from Recommind are one of the leading solutions worldwide in area of intelligent search engine technology, and are used for text analysis in a large number of applications.
”The age of the traditional full-text search is over. With our iECM solutions, we consider ourselves to be a pioneer of modern Enterprise Content Management systems, and anticipate considerable competitive advantages through the improvement of the search functionality. In Recommind, we have found a partner with a unique technology for information retrieval, with state-of-the-art solutions which optimally complement our new product generation", said Kurt-Werner Sikora, management spokesman of the SER Group.
This decisive advantage arises from the combination of the Metadata management of the new DOXiS generation, and the attribute search upon which it is based, with the associative content-based search. Whether in the documents of a customer file, the eMails of a mailbox or contracts regarding a subject area - in every case the user can search through content in a context-related manner, and thereby quickly find the right information. In doing this, the DOXiS iECM Suite supports different views of the content repositories and a virtual navigation through the information inventory, instead of inflexible hierarchical directory structures. ”The integration of Recommind into this flexible architecture from DOXiS was therefore very simple", stated Dr. Gregor Joeris, Product Manager of SER.
For information retrieval of business content, the search technology must function without the reference structures of the WWW, which, for Google, for example, is of crucial importance for relevance assessment. Even a manual mapping to ontologies is far too complex to determine the relationships between the forms of content - even the Semantic Web threatens to fail at this hurdle. MindServer™ technology, on the other hand, manufactures these contexts itself from the content alone, regardless of language, and thereby ideally enhances the DOXiS iECM Suite.
This combination of intelligent information retrieval with the DOXiS iECM Suite is not only advantageous to the customer in improving access to the information and the quality of the service, but also provides crucial assistance in the implementation of compliance requirements. The opening-up of the content of unstructured documents and emails under the keyword "eDiscovery" has therefore not only become quite important in the financial sector, but will also become relevant to many companies in the wake of SOX and Euro-SOX.
Both partners also see significant potential for ECM-based collaboration and Knowledge Management applications, which also use the techniques of Web 2.0. For uniform content management - from traditional document archiving, to project documents, customer and supplier files, and including collaborative contents - DOXiS makes all the services available on an integrated ECM service platform.
For SER customers, there will be both an OEM solution of the search engine, which will be delivered with one of the next software updates, and the possibility of expanding the Search functionality to the complete data inventory of the company. The companies will be announcing more details in the next few weeks.
