Search function and results
"With Magnolia 4.1, good looking websites can be accomplished in a short amount of time. The Standard Templating Kit delivers tested building blocks that fulfill search engine optimization (SEO) and accessibility requirements - without sacrificing design flexibility", says Boris Kraft, CTO Magnolia. "Hence, system integrators and web developers can focus on adding value through integration, design and information architecture instead of repeatedly reinventing the wheel."
Valuable added functionality for enterprise customers
Magnolia 4.1 is once again available under a Free Software license, labeled the Community Edition, as well as the commercial Enterprise Edition. Magnolia 4.1 Enterprise Edition provides added functionality on top of what the Community Edition offers, including enterprise-ready features such as:
The "Image Engine", which ensures that the size of images that have been uploaded to Magnolia CMS will be adjusted automatically. Be it a large sized image for the front page banner or a small sized one on a sub page: the Image Engine automagically selects the appropriate image section or size.
Image, audio and video files can now be included on any web page created with Magnolia directly from its Digital Asset Management (DAM) environment. Web content authors and publishers, radio broadcasters and TV stations will especially benefit from increased simplicity, because they can now quickly and straightforwardly access multimedia content to create websites.
New categorization features enable editors to categorize articles and to display them in grouped lists for hierarchical navigation or access through a category cloud. Furthermore, categories can be related to each other.
Especially important for large and mission-critical corporate websites: Magnolia Enterprise Edition can be operated as a server cluster with load balancing and failover. Version 4.1 ensures that User Generated Content (UGC) such as comments and forum posts will be delivered simultaneously in a high traffic environment.
"Although there are many advertising-based web applications in the cloud that meet many of the requirements, our corporate customers must or want to manage their web content within their own infrastructure", notes Boris Kraft, CTO Magnolia. "With Magnolia 4.1 Enterprise Edition, we provide a compelling technology solution for such scenarios."
