Leading german publisher chooses Autonomy to power online advertising, news and search portals

Autonomy Corporation plc, a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that WESER KURIER, the largest newspaper in the German city of Bremen and the region with 532,000 daily readers, has chosen to implement Autonomy’s unique Meaning Based Computing technology to power search and advertising on its news portal, www.weser-kurier.de. Autonomy’s award-winning Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) infrastructure software was selected after a competitive tender owing to the breadth of its functionality and the company’s strength and reputation in the market.
Only Autonomy was able to deliver a solution that addresses all of WESER-KURIER’s requirements on a single platform. IDOL will be the underlying technology for all customer interactions with the site, enabling WESER-KURIER’s readers to benefit from conceptual access to content, hyperlinks to pertinent articles, explicit and implicit profiling and alerts to other stories that might be of interest.
"We are delighted to have Autonomy's technology at the heart of our online portal," said Jens Tittmann, Managing Director at WESER-KURIER Digital GmbH. "IDOL’s meaning-based capabilities will allow us to transform user experience, increase website stickiness and drive up the click through rate (CTR) by delivering customized news and adverts based on an individual user’s preferences and intent all automatically and in real-time."
"Autonomy has a solid history of powering some of the world’s largest eCommerce and news sites," said Victor Cohen, Regional Manager Autonomy Northern Europe. "WESER-KURIER was looking for cutting edge technology to supplement its unique online offering and provide its extensive reader base with a first-class user experience. We are delighted that WESER-KURIER chose Autonomy as the only vendor who met its high expectations." 16.09.2009, Autonomy Corporation
