On December, the 2nd more than 150 visitors of the "iX-Day rund um SharePoint" took the opportunity to get updated on the latest trends from the Microsoft SharePoint universe. The event was located in the city of Düsseldorf, capital of Germanies most populated federal state Northrhine-Westphalia. Participants could select from three simultaneous conference tracks and discuss their demands with attending experts and in the exhibition.

GETIT, manufacturer of the .NET based content management systems onion.net and Partner of Microsoft, supported the event as a sponsor and exhibitor. Bernd Burkert, onion.net product manager, illustrated the benefits of the onion.net SharePoint integration during his conference speech and live-demo.

Companies relying on SharePoint as a strategic platform for information and collaboration, can now easily reuse any contents from SharePoint directly on the internet. onion.net unties the contents from its SharePoint site bounds, enabling easy publication to the internet in different aggregations and channels. At the same time any extra load on the SharePoint infrastructure, resulting from the additional internet users in the world-wide-web, is reduced to the minimum. »1 user or 10 Mio users looking from the world-wide-web at the same time, that does only matter the onion.net web-servers. From the SharePoint perspective the load virtually appears the same«, Burkert explains.

Examplified by the bycicle manufacturer Contoso - a virtual company - the vistors experienced, how a piece of information that has been edited in SharePoint is automatically updated on a variety of associated websites, in this case Contoso's partners which are bycicle dealers having their own individual corporate designs.

»This was a very successful day with many competent visitors«, Burkert draw his conclusion. »Our feeling is, that some companies have been a little reluctant to embrace SharePoint over here. But now it's really taking off. We can offer a very effective solution to all those SharePoint customers, who want to do more with less and reuse results of their team's collaboration in multifaceted internet facing web sites; either using SharePoint 2007 or SharePoint 2010.«

Those who missed the iX-Day can look forward to upcoming events, like the VSone in Munic. More information is available at http://onion.net.
