Stellent, Inc., a global provider of content management solutions, announced today support for the Linux version of its application on the IBM eServer zSeries mainframe.
By enabling the Stellent® Universal Content Management system to function on the zSeries platform, Stellent customers will be able to take advantage of the zSeries server's high-performance capabilities and operating features, such as built-in server redundancy, failover, clustering and backup.
“The demand for applications that run Linux on the zSeries server is steadily increasing,” said Joan Meltzer, director of marketing for IBM eServer zSeries. “The combined Stellent and IBM solution provides organizations with enterprise-strength information systems that are highly scalable and reliable, allowing them to manage, access and share business content with optimum efficiencies.”
A number of Stellent customers, including Ohio State University and Statistics Austria, currently operate the Stellent Universal Content Management system on Linux on the zSeries platform.
"We wanted to run Stellent on zSeries to take advantage of the IBM hardware we are using for a range of critical business applications," said Wolfgang Schenk, project manager of Statistics Austria. "Stellent enables us to efficiently manage all kinds of content -- in particular content published via the Web to our administration, but also content published via the Web to the scientific and economic community, to the public and to individual citizens. Content we manage includes press releases as well as pictures, graphs and statistical tables. With Stellent, we can use our familiar desktop tools for content creation and leverage Stellent's conversion technology to get this information to the Web in a very efficient manner.”
Additionally, Stellent recently certified the Linux version of its solution on the zSeries server under the IBM Server Proven program, based on its implementation at Ohio State.
“The success of our existing joint customer implementations confirms the compatibility of the Stellent/zSeries combination,” said Dan Ryan, executive vice president of marketing and business development for Stellent. “Our support for zSeries continues Stellent's strategy of offering the broadest platform support in the content management industry.”
Stellent will demonstrate its Stellent Universal Content Management solution running on the Linux for zSeries platform Feb. 3 - 5, 2004 at the Solutions Linux event in Paris, France.
