Cornelsen, one of the foremost publishing companies for educational and learning materials, has re-launched its internet portal for teachers www.cornelsen-teachweb.de using SixCMS. In doing so, Six Offene Systeme GmbH, the leading provider of enterprise content management products based upon open-source technology, replaced a large portion of the previous content management system, Gauss VIP.

Thanks to SixCMS, the teacher portal was entirely redone in a project, which took just over three months to complete. Additionally the educational material being offered was extended to over 10,000 catalog articles. New categories and modern work-tools, make lesson planning and evaluation even easier for teachers now. For example, the ability to locate specific passages within the text of PDF and MS Office documents with the standard solution SixCMS, was decisive for Cornelsen in addition to fulfilling all other project requirements. Teachers can log into a restricted download area and access and download educational material in various formats, through the seamless integration of an external personalization system. The SixCMS Asset Management provides the teaching material catalog with page previews and pricing information among other things.

Teachers now have access to a comprehensive teacher’s library around the clock under www.cornelsen-teachweb.de for instruction units, suggestions for homework and examinations, handouts, teaching plans or supplementary material. The efficient and powerful SixCMS search engine, quickly locates the right solution to fit the user’s requirement. A daily information service, delivers updated teaching aids for 14 school subjects, and because time is of the essence, this internet-guide provides direct internet addresses, for advanced course related instruction.
