CoreMedia, the leading provider of Smart Content Technology, today announced that it has joined the IBM Service Provider Delivery Environment (SPDE) Global Partner Network.

At 3GSM WorldCongress, starting Monday in Cannes, at the IBM booth in Hall 1 (area C1), CoreMedia as global IBM partner will present an exclusive live demo for rich media content delivery to UMTS devices. The solution enables high quality mobile services with secured revenues while also enabling “super distribution” of rich media content like pictures, music, true tones, games and videos.

CoreMedia's mobile DRM solution integrated with IBM SPDE enables mobile operators to embrace new business opportunities and increase their average revenue per user (ARPU) by delivering higher quality, valuable content to subscribers in protected format. The solution also stimulates wireless viral marketing by allowing legal super-distribution, turning subscribers into distributors of content and thereby generating new revenues from content as well as driving data usage.

The live demo at 3GSM will show all functionality defined in the OMA 1.0 DRM standard (including defined upgrade path to version OMA 2.0) with CoreMedia's functionally rich, "out of the box" suite of capabilities which has been developed to address the needs of mobile operators.

SPDE Global Partner Network, a network of independent software vendors, content providers and telecommunications and network equipment providers who test and validate digital rights management (DRM) and other applications for compatibility and ease of integration within the SPDE framework.

“As a member of the SPDE Global Partner Network, CoreMedia underlines its position as a leading provider of innovative open standard DRM software for operators and handset manufacturers," said Sören Stamer, Co-Founder and CEO of CoreMedia. “Together with IBM, we help wireless service providers to reduce operational expenses, increase revenues and improve profitability.”

“We are very excited to demonstrate this leading edge solution with our partner CoreMedia,” commented Karin Arnold, SPDE Development Manager at IBM. “As a member of the SPDE GPN, CoreMedia has access to IBM’s technical experts for SPDE and can take advantage of IBM’s software, research and development capabilities.“

SPDE solutions are based on open standards and are designed to give mobile service providers the flexibility to introduce new, revenue generating services to their customers faster, easier and at a lower cost.
