Gallaher Group Plc revamps world-wide internal communications with eKnowledge Infrastructure.

Hyperwave, a leading supplier of collaborative knowledge management and e-learning software, announced that Gallaher Group Plc, international tobacco manufacturing and wholesale company, are using Hyperwave’s eKnowledge Infrastructure (eKI). In a significant deal for both companies, Gallaher have undertaken a global Enterprise Content Management programme over three years using Hyperwave.

The initial phase has delivered nine different projects including brand management, new product development, logistics document management and revamp of the group-wide intranet. The knowledge management system is being used initially company wide with 325 key users, incorporating all of the company’s sectors on a global scale to encourage internal collaboration.

Prior to selecting the Hyperwave system, Gallaher compiled a list of Content Management projects to enable them to make better use of their existing knowledge throughout the company. The key requirements comprised:

A Portal – presentation layer to enable personalised delivery of content
Document / Content Management
Workflow control
Information Search and Retrieval
Collaboration
Brand/Digital Asset Management
Legal and Financial Document Management
Competitive intelligence

Gallaher selected Hyperwave for the ease and cost efficiency with which the system could be implemented. Hyperwave was also the only vendor that could meet all of Gallaher’s core requirements in one collaborative solution. Victor Jachens, Gallaher’s Group Programme Manager, said, “We had a comprehensive selection phase in which we found many companies that could meet some of our requirements. Hyperwave was the only cost-effective provider that could cover all our requirements in one suite. We are impressed with the system’s ease of use and most importantly, the applicable stability. Our new group-wide intranet took 125000 hits in the first week with not one technical issue. In an enterprise scale application, stability and usability are crucial.”

Hyperwave’s eKI will make it easier for all Gallaher’s intranet users to include multimedia and graphics files in the publication of content and documents to the intranet. This will be aligned with workflow processes and will aid collaboration via e-mail. Discussion forums will also help future internal communications.

Christoph Michel, CEO of Hyperwave commented, “Hyperwave’s collaborative knowledge system allows an organisation to pool several knowledge resources, communication and administration systems into one single portal. By implementing this system Gallaher can expand according to the demand and needs of its employees. Sharing information saves time and money, and we anticipate that Gallaher’s employees will reap the benefits within no time.”
