ActiveMedia Desktop Client Connection Provides Unprecedented Support for QuarkXpress and InDesign

INSCI Corp. (OTCBB:INCC), provider of enterprise content management (ECM) solutions, today announced its new WebWare ActiveMedia™ Desktop Client Connection for QuarkXpress® and Adobe InDesign® files. The advanced desktop utility, available for both Mac and PC workstations, enables designers to streamline their design and production workflows by giving them direct access to their company’s ActiveMedia digital asset management (DAM) repository. The new functionality was introduced today at the Henry Stewart Digital Asset Management Symposium.
A typical Quark or InDesign layout file may include a dozen or even hundreds of other linked files, such as graphics and photos. The ActiveMedia Plug-in allows users to both save their new designs into a central controlled repository, as well as place files from the repository directly into their layout. This new capability streamlines the process of accessing and working with content, while also providing direct access to a database-driven repository for managing, archiving, and storing content.
“This new offering revolutionizes the way a user can access and work with content,” said Henry F. Nelson, president and CEO of INSCI Corp. “It treats graphic designers as first-class clients by giving them unprecedented access to content right from their design environment. The combination of a desktop client, with a companion extension or plug-in, is a natural fit because it doesn’t require designers to learn a new application or nomenclature: they can start working in the repository from Day One.”
Direct connection to the ActiveMedia repository is made accessible through Xpress and InDesign file menus. Bringing the assets directly into the layout and design environment speeds creating and updating files. ActiveMedia provides for long-term storage and preservation of brand content, ensures that content is versioned appropriately, prevents duplicate files from being uploaded, and provides complete permissions-based file security.
Other features include:
The ability to place content from the repository directly into a layout application
Entire compound documents or single files can be uploaded to or downloaded from repository
Switch out old linked files for new ones, simultaneously update ActiveMedia database and repository
Search ActiveMedia repository from within Xpress and InDesign production environment
Check in/Check out privileges maintain content integrity
Desktop client software maintains full repository security
The ActiveMedia Desktop Client Connection for QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign will ship in May. 30.03.2004, INSCI Corp.
