Documentum, provider of enterprise content management (ECM) and a division of EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), today announced that York International (NYSE: YRK), the largest independent supplier of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems and solutions in the United States, has selected Documentum 5, the latest version of the Documentum ECM platform. York will standardize on Documentum across its global enterprise to create, manage, deliver and archive all types of content, including engineering drawings, purchase orders, invoices, marketing collateral, brochures and legal documents.

A trusted provider of space conditioning and refrigeration products since 1874, York is a Fortune 500 company with approximately 23,000 employees worldwide. The company has service, marketing and sales offices in more than 125 countries throughout the world, as well as 29 manufacturing facilities located in 13 different countries. With such a globally dispersed organization, York found the management of content retained in a variety of locations, including physical storage facilities and shared network drives, to be a challenge. The company was looking for a single, unified platform to simplify the management of global content and records. By standardizing on Documentum 5, York will eliminate 15 different point information management solutions.

Documentum was selected due to the company's market leadership, the broad functionality of its platform, ease of integration with York's SAP installation and the ease of use of Documentum eRoom, the company's best-in-class enterprise collaboration solution, also used by York. York is deploying Documentum 5 to automate processes and more efficiently manage content enterprise wide. The company will soon deploy Documentum's web content management products for its Internet and global intranet sites. Documentum Media Services will provide York's Marketing department with an easy-to-use visual environment for managing its rich media images, audio and video.

Documentum eRoom is being used across York as a project management application for global teams to accelerate product development and to collaborate on engineering drawings. York also selected products from Documentum ISV Partner, McLaren, to manage the creation, access, approval and release of engineering drawings created with CAD applications in the Documentum ECM platform. "Documentum's focus on records retention, workflow and version control will help us greatly reduce operating expenses, and in using Documentum 5, we will be able to publish content on demand, maximizing our efficiency," said George Lambe, director of global applications for York International. "In deploying Documentum across departments, we are dramatically enhancing our ability to manage global content and finding new areas to use the platform."

"Leveraging Documentum's suite of applications, will enable us to build a cohesive set of business tools that will allow York to leverage the same content for multiple applications and distribution streams," said Timothy Fives, manager of Global Content Solutions for York International. "The Documentum platform will allow us to aggregate digital content assets that are currently stored locally and in turn leverage them across the organization to support a wide variety of business processes." "Global manufacturing leaders, such as York, standardize on the Documentum ECM platform because they recognize the benefits that the entire organization can achieve -- enhanced efficiencies, productivity improvements and accelerated product development," said Dave DeWalt, president of the Documentum, a division of EMC. "York's implementation of Documentum will help its worldwide operations, from manufacturing and marketing to legal, reap the benefits of a unified content management platform."

Leading Manufacturing Companies Rely on Documentum

In addition to York, Documentum has hundreds of manufacturing customers, including BOC Gases, Fairchild Semiconductor, Eastman Kodak, McKechnie Aerospace. These companies use Documentum to improve quality, boost productivity, comply with evolving regulations and fulfill their challenging enterprise content management requirements.
