Brazil's Leading Mobile Phone Company Builds on Previous Success With Vignette To Unite Five Major Carriers

Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq:VIGN) today announced that Claro, Brazil's second-largest mobile phone company, has completed the relaunch of a comprehensive Web initiative in record time thanks to Vignette(R) Content Management and Vignette Portal solutions. In just two and a half months, Claro rolled out new intranet, extranet and Internet sites all using Vignette's content management and portal solutions. The company's use of a unified content system minimizes the costs of maintaining multiple sites and drives organizational efficiency by helping to ensure that information is consistent across all online properties.

The project extended a current Vignette deployment, integrating with Claro's customer relationship management system, billing application and other enterprise applications, to provide multiple content-rich portals. Claro's intranet provides personalized content for the company's employees and call center agents. The extranet facilitates dynamic, two-way communication with Claro's reseller community. Vignette also helps Claro provide a consistent brand look and feel across the distinct sites of five communication conglomerates, effectively managing the company's brand and offering customers current, consistent information.

"Considering our business needs and our vision for developing highly trafficked intranet, Internet and extranet channels, we selected Vignette based on its proven performance in previous deployments," said Moises Lachman, CIO at Claro.

The ability to easily develop functionality on top of the Vignette content framework was key in Claro's selection of Vignette solutions. In addition, Vignette's commitment to the project was critical in rolling out multiple sites in minimal time. Vignette Professional Services partnered with Claro's IT department to plan and implement the Web strategy.

"Claro presented us with a challenge to plan and implement a complex initiative against a tight deadline. Vignette was able to meet and exceed Claro's requirements and the project has been an overwhelming success," said Patti Jones, senior vice president of worldwide sales and distribution at Vignette.

Vignette continues to extend its global presence through successes with leading companies such as Claro. "With large, complex initiatives such as Claro's, Vignette demonstrates its content management leadership in Brazil," said Ivamar Sousa, country manager for Brazil at Vignette.
