Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV) today announced that Interwoven's leading digital asset management (DAM) application, Interwoven MediaBin Asset Server 4.0 software, supports the Intel Itanium 2 architecture. Enterprises can take advantage of the Intel Itanium 2 platform and harness the power of MediaBin to achieve the highest levels of performance, scalability, and availability at lowest total cost of ownership.

Interwoven MediaBin 4.0 (announced earlier this month http://www.interwoven.com/news/press/2004/030804mb4.html) is the leading DAM product chosen by marketing organizations to manage the thousands of digital assets and associated marketing content used to promote their products and brands. With MediaBin, extended marketing teams can easily catalog, manage, transform, and distribute digital assets, including photographs and logos, audio and video, datasheets and advertisements, presentations and documents.

With the release of the Intel Itanium 2 processor with 6M L3 cache, the Itanium architecture is taking the lead in enterprise and technical computing performance. Software compatibility also extends to IA-32 solutions, since all Itanium 2 processors offer support for IA-32 applications through the IA-32 Execution Layer. As a 32-bit application, the MediaBin Asset Server leverages the IA-32 Execution Layer to support a 64-bit environment which includes Microsoft SQL Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) and Windows Server 2003 (64-bit).

"We are very excited to see Interwoven MediaBin Asset Server supporting the Intel Itanium 2 architecture," said Lisa Graff, director, Intel Itanium Group. "Enterprises who are implementing large-scale MediaBin deployments with support for numerous users and massive data sets will benefit from the industry leading performance and scalability of the Itanium 2 architecture, enabling greater business productivity."

Use case scenarios for MediaBin on Itanium 2 architecture include:

- Scaling digital photography to poster-sized resolutions;
- Creating streaming previews of MPEG2 files and other bandwidth-intensive rich media formats;
- Mass print catalog processing and hi-resolution image rendition management;
- Retrieving large-scale tasks and downloading multiple images;
- Uploading large number of dense media assets into the MediaBin Asset Server;
- Working with multi-CPU, optionally clustered MediaBin instances for high-powered image computing requirements;
- Scaling fractal images for print resolutions.

"MediaBin 4.0 is based on the most scalable, easily extensible, proven digital asset management platform available on the market today," said Bob Estes, vice president, Marketing Solutions, for Interwoven. "We are very pleased to support those customers requiring high-performance digital asset management services on the Itanium 2 architecture. Customers leveraging this architecture will not only benefit from performance but also reduce their operating costs with improved reliability."

Some of the world's most recognizable brand-name companies, such as Delta Air Lines, John Deere, Reebok, and Samsonite rely on MediaBin to increase brand equity, drive revenue growth by rapidly delivering brand-compliant marketing content to the sales channel, and achieve marketing efficiencies by greatly reducing time and labor costs associated with the production and distribution of marketing content. With added support for implementing MediaBin on Itanium 2 architecture, customers can now realize further increases in productivity, performance, and reliability of their digital asset management solution.
