Verity Inc., provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has selected Verity® K2 Enterprise (K2E) software for its Joint Regional Information Exchange System (JRIES), a government intelligence information-sharing network that was developed by state and local officials in partnership with the federal government.

JRIES, a vital part of the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) initiative, enables federal, state and local agencies, as well as emergency operations centers, to receive and share intelligence and tactical information, securely, in the effort to combat terrorism.

JRIES utilizes the advanced search features of Verity K2E to locate, evaluate and analyze intelligence information stored within the system’s content repositories from all 50 states, five territories, the District of Columbia and 50 major urban areas.

According to the Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, the HSIN has been the cornerstone of efforts to protect national monuments and secure holiday celebrations and special events, such as the Super Bowl and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“Gathering, organizing, evaluating and sharing homeland security information securely is a crucial part of what the HSIN and JRIES are about,” said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity’s president and CEO. “Verity technology is used in many branches of the federal government and in states and cities across America. We feel honored to see it applied in this security network expansion.”
