Integrated Broadcast Management Solution for CanWest Global
Good news for arvato systems and S4M - Solutions for Media: the Canadian media company CanWest Global signed a large contract. As general contractor, arvato systems received an order to implement an S4M integrated broadcast management solution at CanWest GlobalTV.
CanWest Global which is based in Winnipeg and Toronto is one of Canada’s leading media companies. Its annual turnover totals more than $ 2,5 billion. The company owns and operates more than 25 individual TV stations in Canada, holds interests in TV stations in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland, film productions, radio networks, multimedia companies, and more than one hundred daily newspapers, such as the National Post.
arvato systems and S4M are very pleased that the negotiations held with CanWest over the past months came to a successful conclusion. The contract predominantly includes the implementation of an integrated broadcast management solution, which exactly reflects the core business processes of the Canadian network, thus responding to the particular situation in the North American market.
Choosing the S4M systems S4Rights, S4Schedule, and S4AdSales CanWest went for a solution that manages all daily management tasks in broadcasting. The S4Schedule module, for example, manages all planning tasks that come up – from strategic program planning to actual broadcasting. S4Rights, a licensing and inventory management tool, includes contract management, indexing management and complete material management. It also includes commercial asset management as an appropriate subsidiary accounting system for licensed assets. S4AdSales, finally, is a cross media air time sales system which supports both local as well as global advertising campaigns, thereby connecting different channels, countries, languages, currencies and media.
From program planning through license management to air time allocation and marketing: CanWest decided for a fully integrated system which is additionally tailored to the special needs of Canadian TV producers. That part of this large project – customizing and systems introduction – will be realized within the next two years.
This contract also includes a support and maintenance agreement covering the next ten years. The project team which consists of staff from arvato systems and S4M will operate mainly from Cologne and Toronto. Additionally, a Canada/North America based team will be established step-by-step as the project unfolds. This will enable long term customer support and maintenance directly on site in Canada.
