Canto launches Cumulus 6 for Enterprise
Canto, a global leader in Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Cumulus 6 for Enterprise. Harnessing on the strength and technology of the Cumulus product line, the Enterprise version promises a list of power-packed features and capabilities for users, administrators and system integrators. This version also guarantees the Cumulus 6 trademark – ease of use and unmatched stability on all platforms.
Cumulus 6 Enterprise will simplify the users’ daily task of managing assets due to its server-centric nature and, with the revolutionary EJaP (Embedded Java Plug-In) technology, it can be customized to meet the demanding business needs of global enterprises. It is the ultimate solution, as it can even speak the language of global corporations with an inter-changeable choice of English, French, Japanese or German user interfaces.
In addition to all features of the Cumulus Workgroup Solutions the Enterprise Edition offers outstanding technology to meet the needs of large corporations such as AXR™, Live Filtering™, Cumulus Java Classes Runtime and the included Option Internet Client Pro. Other included Options are Cumulus Viewer, Vault and URL AssetStore. The basic Enterprise package comes with Server software and 20 clients.
The ease-of use of Cumulus 6 Enterprise is reflected in a multitude of features. Now all assets can be managed and made accessible centrally in one window. In addition to the categories, an extra keyword list and the asset location can be displayed. Also, contrary to other Cumulus Editions, Enterprise users can create as many of their own categories to fit their workflow as they like. This version also allows users to switch easily between different views with pre-configured View Sets and even display the information they find relevant regarding format or task. Cumulus 6 also offers Asset Handling Sets for optimized handling of different formats. These pre-configured sets can be edited and provided centrally by the administrator. Under both Mac OS X and Windows Cumulus now features a toolbar with the most important functions such as Quicksearch. The toolbar’s layout has been adapted to that of Canto’s Internet solutions so that switching from the client application to the Internet application becomes easy.
Furthermore, the menu structure has been simplified with a new central settings dialog. Now all settings for users, catalogs and sets can be made in this one dialog. Cumulus 6 for Enterprise also features the Palette Mode, and printing of records, categories and previews (based on the selected View Set). There are also new options in Preferences and in User settings for the Print, Search and Display functions. For example after a search the results remain in the chosen sort order set by the user. In the Display panel, the settings can now enable the image displayed to be limited to its original size. This is essential in the event that some images may appear distorted due to the image being stretched and re-sized to fit the window.
With the server-centric nature of this solution, the administrator’s task is simplified. This feature allows Cumulus licenses as well as the View Sets, Asset-Handling Sets, access rights and further settings and profiles to be managed centrally.
With the revolutionary cross-platform EJaP technology that is unique to Cumulus 6, cost cutting and customizability of the highest level is assured. System integrators can write their applications once and deploy them regardless of platform.
EJaPs also extend Cumulus 6 Enterprise’s capabilities by enabling assigning and detaching selected categories, merging categories, modifying volume identifier, preparing catalogs for EXIF and for IPTC, and Find and Replace for metadata stored on an asset. Canto has integrated the new EJaPs into the application so that users perceive them as part of Cumulus; this seamless integration into any existing workflow such as Enterprise Portal or Enterprise Content Management are just some of the advantages EjaPs offers.
The versatility of Cumulus 6 Enterprise is further reflected in its built-in multilingual capability, a feature that will cater to the needs of global corporations. This allows the user to switch between the English, French, Japanese or German user interface by simply selecting the appropriate menu command.
Other features that make Cumulus 6 Enterprise a cut above the rest include unmatched performance improvements. Previews can now be down-sampled to the required display size at the server so that transfer and display time can be notably reduced. Cataloging now also benefits from Cumulus‘ multi-threading capability. In addition to allowing users to perform multiple cataloging processes, users can even catalog in the background. Connect Kits for ODBC and Oracle 8i are also available.
Availability
Cumulus 6 for Enterprise is available immediately from Canto Certified System Integrators and Canto sales offices.
