Captiva Software Corp., a provider of input management solutions, announced it has signed a software licensing agreement with FileNet Corp., a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) solutions. Under the agreement, which over three years should yield in excess of a million dollars to Captiva, FileNet will use Captiva's PixTools(R)/Scan and PixTools/View products and bundle Captiva's ISIS(R) scanner drivers within its products.

The new agreement expands FileNet's decade-long relationship with Captiva. With PixTools' Scan and View products and the bundling of ISIS, FileNet has the ability to support new scanners and evolving features such as support for color images, multiple data streams and distributed scanning. The ISIS technology also ensures support for a wide variety of industry scanners.

"This new agreement will give us the ability to continue to quickly respond to changing demands in our customers' requirements," said Martyn Christian, chief marketing officer at FileNet. "With Pixel's scan and view technologies, we will provide our customers robust document viewing and imaging capabilities while reducing our support and installation costs. Furthermore, the innovative ISIS architecture allows our customers to obtain optimal performance from our products."

"We're pleased to be expanding the successful relationship between FileNet and Captiva," said Jim Vickers, Captiva's chief marketing officer and general manager of Pixel Translations. "This long-standing business partnership continues to grow stronger and allows us to provide quality products and services to our customers."

Created in 1990, ISIS is a flexible, modular standard for acquiring, converting, viewing, printing and storing scanned document images. ISIS-based toolkits provide users the most efficient means possible for adding these imaging functions to applications and are available for use in virtually every instance where a commercial enterprise system communicates with a scanner, making ISIS the de facto industry standard. ISIS has garnered numerous industry accolades and is widely credited with enabling the document imaging and e-content market to prosper.

PixTools/View toolkit is a full-featured API that provides all the necessary image viewing and printing functions including image display, rotation, scale, scale-to-gray and annotation. PixTools/Scan toolkit supports ISIS, driving peak performance from every scanning device and providing access to the full range of available scanner features.
