Blue Order, a leading provider of Enterprise-scale Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions for broadcasting, multimedia and corporate communications applications, announced that Dutch Broadcast Facilitator, NOB has chosen Blue Order’s Enterprise-scale Media Asset Management solution, Media Archive®, as the Media Asset Management platform for the ‘The Digital Facility ’ project.

As part of a consortium lead by Prime Contractor Sony Netherlands, Blue Order’s solutions were chosen to complement technologies supplied by other vendors to enable NOB’s vision of developing a digital production platform for the Dutch Public AV sector. The intention is that this digital platform will enable the Dutch public broadcasting organizations (publieke omroepen) to transmit their programme material from a single integrated digital work process through several channels (radio, TV, Internet, mobile).

The project will implement a central repository for video content to optimize exchange of programme essence and metadata for re-use and repurposing. The solution will facilitate digital file based contribution of this content information from multiple parties to the central repository used for playout, Internet fulfillment and archiving. The project will comprise integrations with a leading automation system and a well-established scheduling system.

The system will also enable the automatic transfer of video content and metadata to the long-term archive of Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Beeld en Geluid) and will offer a single interface to users of the ‘The Digital Facility ’ system to search across both systems.

Based on open standards, Blue Order’s Media Archive® is a highly scalable, distributed Enterprise Media Management platform. Media Archive® supports the entire archiving process, from live ingest and live logging to retrieval, browsing, editing and cataloguing of audio-visual and multi-format content.
