Energen Powers Employee Intranet with Interwoven TeamSite 6

Interwoven Inc. announced that Energen Corporation (NYSE: EGN), a diversified energy holding company, recently upgraded to Interwoven TeamSite 6 to underpin its newly re-designed intranet serving 1,500 employees. With Interwoven, Energen has turned a manual, time-intensive process into an efficient employee communications tool.

"The Interwoven content management platform is a critical part of our e-business infrastructure, and has quickly become the backbone of our enterprise content management strategy," says Calvin Baker, intranet manager at Energen. "Recently, we were able to work with Interwoven to upgrade to TeamSite 6 as part of a re-design for our intranet site. We are using the new user-friendly interfaces in TeamSite 6 and templates created during the re-design project to expand the number of employees who use Interwoven throughout our organization - and we're happy with the results."

Extending the Content Process Across the Organization

An Interwoven customer since 2002, Energen first deployed TeamSite with Human Resources, the department with the most content and the widest reach within the corporation. With the upgrade to TeamSite 6 and its easy-to-use interface and improved workflows, four additional departments can now use Interwoven, including Legal, Employee Development, Communications, and Investor Relations. Interwoven TeamSite 6 Content Server software's new user interface, Content Center Standard, features easily customized, portal-style components for streamlined content contribution by casual contributors and approvers, subject matter experts, and managers. The new interface played a large role in getting additional employees online quickly, and with minimal training.

In Energen's Communications department, where Interwoven had not been used prior to the TeamSite 6 upgrade, the user-friendly interface coupled with a visual annotation feature was a big change from traditional paper-based review processes previously used throughout the department. Interwoven Visual Annotate functionality allows business decision-makers to use "virtual" sticky notes, text tools, and visual markup to directly edit, review and approve Web pages within a browser. TeamSite's ease-of-use and annotation technology allows more employees access to the information which speeds up the collaboration process, streamlines approvals, and improves overall communications.

Interwoven Consulting Services and Energen: Partnering for Success

Throughout the rollout of TeamSite 6, Interwoven Consulting Services brought significant expertise and resources through its "trusted advisor" program that enabled them to develop a solution that met the many business and technical requirements faced by Energen.

An Integrated Enterprise Technology Platform

Interwoven Teamsite 6 was implemented in Energen's existing infrastructure on top of IBM WebSphere. Additionally, Interwoven MetaTagger for content intelligence has been successfully integrated into an existing Verity Ultraseek search engine producing faster, more relevant search results. Interwoven OpenDeploy Distribution Server software provides immediate content deployment capabilities for hourly updates of corporate information to Energen employees on an as-needed basis.
