Autonomy Corporation plc, provider of infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that independent research firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned Autonomy in the leader quadrant in its 2004 Enterprise Search Magic Quadrant.
The Gartner report evaluated companies according to their "completeness of vision" and "ability to execute." A vendor's "completeness of vision" relates to its ability to address an enterprise's immediate needs and also its preparation for future circumstances. "Ability to execute" implies that the vendor has the resources and viability to respond to an enterprise's needs and requirements. According to Gartner, vendors listed in the leader quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. Key criteria used in this Magic Quadrant vendor assessment include relevancy determination, indexing and security, input/output flexibility, scalability and architecture, and financial strength.
"We believe recognition in Gartner's Magic Quadrant confirms Autonomy's leading position in the enterprise information market," said Mike Lynch, CEO and co-founder, Autonomy. "Over the years, our approach to information management has been proven successful, and our strength as a company is illustrated by 17 consecutive quarters of profitability. We look forward to continued success in the enterprise market."
Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy- based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video, and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
