Prostate Cancer Foundation Deploys Kintera Web Technology

The Prostate Cancer Foundation announced that it deployed software provided by Kintera(r) Inc. to restructure and launch a highly interactive Content Management System (CMS) website (www.prostatecancerfoundation.org), among other online enhancements. The online technology provided by Kintera, a leading provider of software as a service to nonprofit organizations, was used to rebrand the Prostate Cancer Foundation and educate website visitors.
The launch of Kintera's web-based solutions is extremely timely - the Prostate Cancer Foundation, formerly known as CapCure, will have an opportunity to generate additional visibility and funds during a weeklong "Today Show" special on NBC. Airing June 7-11, the program will focus on prostate cancer and drive viewers to a specific, results-oriented landing page (www.todaypcf.org), also deployed by Kintera. This website promotion will enable the foundation to capitalize on expected heavy web traffic, capture opt-in email addresses and collect online donations.
The new Prostate Cancer Foundation website, built around the nonprofit's mission of finding better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer, is a powerful tool that allows the foundation to clearly communicate in real-time with supporters and enables them to form a true community with a common cause.
Online features provided by Kintera include:
* CMS technology to provide personalized, health-related content for web visitors
* Easy-to-use online tools that allow the Prostate Cancer Foundation's staff to quickly update content and keep the site's information fresh and active, without HTML experience or the need for additional IT personnel
* Online donation areas, including a memorial tribute feature in memory or honor of a loved one, that securely collect contributions made with a credit card or electronic check
"The Prostate Cancer Foundation is very pleased with our new website built on Kintera's CMS technology, which provides personalized content for our many online visitors and tools for our staff to easily update content," said Leslie D. Michelson, vice chairman and CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. "Kintera successfully met the challenges of launching the site, including our renaming of the organization during the build and the adoption of a new logo. We are grateful to the Kintera professionals for completing the project on time, thus helping to ensure our rebranding success and our efforts in the fight against prostate cancer."
By visiting www.prostatecancerfoundation.org, supporters can learn about the latest prostate cancer research, join a support group for those affected by the disease, memorialize a loved one through an online tribute and more. A major function of the website is to effectively communicate with web visitors regarding the Prostate Cancer Foundation's initiatives. For example, supporters can learn online about upcoming events, retreats and partnerships.
"Kintera's feature-rich enterprise software allows the Prostate Cancer Foundation to enhance its online relationship with donors, volunteers and other supporters by providing personalized communication with consumers based on a complete knowledge of all prior interactions with the organization," said Kintera's CEO, Harry Gruber, M.D. "We're excited to play a role in helping to find better treatments and a cure for advanced prostate cancer."
The Prostate Cancer Foundation was started as CapCure in 1993, when scientists had few sources of funding and little reason to engage in prostate-specific research. Since then, the organization has ignited an explosion of scientific inquiry in the field, working with industry to fast-track new treatments and urging lawmakers to adequately equip those searching for a cure.
