Percussion(R) Software, developer of practical software solutions enabling customers to maximize the value and quality of enterprise content, announced that Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind the "Sesame Street" children's TV program, has selected the company's Rhythmyx(TM) 5 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution. Rhythmyx 5 will enhance the Workshop's global online communications by making it easy for non-technical staff, co-producers, business partners and licensees to create and share ideas and information, as well as manage and access artwork, audio, video and other valuable content assets. Rhythmyx 5 was selected in a competitive evaluation, and identified as the best content management system to integrate with the Workshop's Novell, Inc. exteNd Standard Edition portal solution.

Founded in 1968, Sesame Workshop addresses children's developmental needs in 120 countries worldwide. With efforts extending far beyond "Sesame Street," the Workshop uses four distribution channels: online interactive programs; both Web and platform-driven games; book and magazine publishing; and TV, film and home video. The Workshop oversees co-productions in countries as diverse as Egypt, Mexico, Israel and South Africa, and must ensure that its many brands appear consistently across international boundaries.

The Workshop's global activity is anchored by state-of-the-art technologies, which are implemented and maintained by the organization's New York-based IT department. The IT department uses a Novell portal solution to unify its multi-platform environment and foster global collaboration. A key element of the portal initiative is the recent selection of Rhythmyx 5 to address the Workshop's content management needs.

Sherra Pierre-March, Sesame Workshop's vice president of Information Systems, explained, "We envisioned a unified global environment that allows us to manage content seamlessly within a portal delivery framework. That's what we have with Novell's portal and Rhythmyx 5. We've put the power to control content into the hands of our users, rather than IT. Now, people will author content, run it through workflow approval and put it on the portal, and we know that access is secure and the assets are protected and easily managed through the distribution channels."

She added, "By better managing all of our content, Rhythmyx 5 is helping us to implement a work environment we call Create Once, Play Everywhere. Rhythmyx will improve our workflow efficiencies and speed to market, because the easier we can share what we create, the faster we can develop new ideas and products. It has a predictable licensing structure that will enable us to expand content management to more users over time. Perhaps most importantly, giving creative people control of their own Web pages will change how they work, how they view content and how they interact with each other. The bottom line is: it's all about the kids. Because of the work we do each day, kids are learning, and that is priceless."

Barry Reynolds, president and CEO of Percussion Software, noted, "Sesame Workshop is an influential organization, with an international reach, a very demanding global environment, and a mission that focuses solely on improving children's lives. Our Rhythmyx 5 Enterprise Content Management solution provides a powerful platform for the Workshop to share what they do best. We're proud they chose Rhythmyx 5 to support and enhance their important global educational mission."
