Documentum, provider of enterprise content management and a division of EMC Corporation, announced that Bechtel, one of the world's premier engineering, construction and project management companies, has standardized on the Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform for all global content.

Bechtel provides industry-leading services to develop, manage, engineer, build and operate unique installations worldwide. In 2003 alone, the company's 44,000 employees worked on some 500 projects in nearly 60 countries. A longstanding Documentum customer, Bechtel first deployed Documentum for a central repository to easily access and leverage the company's content, consisting of engineering drawings, contracts, proposals and traditional office documents. The company also implemented Documentum to enable its project teams to collaborate and share content in a web-based environment.

In expanding the relationship with Documentum, Bechtel will standardize on Documentum solutions across its global enterprise. Bechtel, like many engineering and construction companies, must comply with numerous government regulations such as the U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 standard for recordkeeping. To address these requirements, the company will be deploying Documentum Records Manager, which enables organizations to identify, protect and capture business-critical records and content and implement procedures for timely, secure disposition. Bechtel also selected Documentum Digital Asset Management products to enable the storage, accessing and repurposing of the company's rich media archive, which consists of thousands of photos, graphics and other multimedia. In addition, Bechtel will be standardizing on Documentum eRoom, to provide its employees and partners with a flexible collaborative environment for global project management.

"Bechtel has been a Documentum customer for more than 10 years. We see the value of leveraging an open, scalable platform to manage all content types on a global basis, so standardizing on Documentum was a logical decision," said Darrell Delahoussaye, EPC Systems Portfolio Manager at Bechtel. "At Bechtel, project management is a core competency, given the diversity, difficulties and physical locations of many of our projects. Using Documentum eRoom, we will get an easy-to-use workspace with enterprise scale that can provide our employees, partners and thousands of contractors with all the necessary tools for predictable project execution."

"Documentum's relationship with Bechtel has been longstanding and mutually beneficial," said Dave DeWalt, president of the Documentum division of EMC. "Bechtel is a valuable, strategic Documentum customer. In fact, the feedback and insight Bechtel shares on Documentum products helps us continue to deliver best-in-class enterprise content management solutions."
