Interwoven, Inc., provider of enterprise content management (ECM) platform, announced that its TeamSite content management software has been implemented by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ). Interwoven TeamSite now powers the agency's leading Internet-based knowledge and information initiative, Local Government Online (LGOnline), launched at the Civic Leaders Summit in Brisbane, Australia earlier this month.
Acting LGAQ President Councilor Paul Bell says LGOnline provides "one-stop access" for state and local government information, allowing staff to be more time efficient, while reducing the costs of local development. While integrating procurement, billing, content management, Website development, and many other services, LGOnline also includes online self-assessment software, enabling staff members to identify their own training needs.
To underpin the content management requirements of the LGOnline information initiative, Interwoven TeamSite Content Server software was selected from several tendered offers after extensive testing by LGAQ and a number of local councils. TeamSite extends access to all business users either at LGAQ headquarters or at any of the 125 local councils who could sign up for access to LGOnline. With TeamSite, LGAQ claims it has developed a suite of otherwise unavailable resources and services for local government employees, which includes exclusive access to the State Government intranet, GovNet.
"The LGAQ is delighted with the initial performance of TeamSite. It has proven to offer powerful scalability and ease of use, putting the power of a dedicated enterprise-class content management into the hands of even the smallest local council," Councilor Bell says. "TeamSite is also widely used by most Queensland Government departments ensuring familiarity, compatibility, and trust across a huge local user base."
LGOnline is free for all Queensland Councils on a trial basis until June 30, 2004 when $6 million AUD funding from the Australian Government through the "Networking the Nation" program of the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts ceases, after which it will only be available to those councils who have subscribed, Councilor Bell says.
"This revolutionary initiative has received an overwhelming response from local government with approximately 80% of Queensland Councils subscribing to LGOnline during the trial period," Bell concluded.
