Documentum, provider of enterprise content management and a division of EMC Corporation announced that SIG Holding (SIG), a global provider of packaging materials, equipment and services, has extended its use of the Documentum Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform company wide and deployed Documentum Digital Asset Manager (DAM) for marketing content management and Documentum eRoom for collaboration.

SIG Holding employs more than 9,000 employees and consists of two divisions: SIG Combibloc and SIG Beverages. SIG Combibloc originally selected Documentum for distributed content management and integration with its SAP systems. Most recently, SIG implemented the Documentum DAM solution to centrally manage more than 30,000 corporate photographs and images, known as the "SIG Gallery." The company also implemented Documentum eRoom to help facilitate global project collaboration among disparate teams.

Prior to the implementation of the Documentum DAM solution, employee requests for images and photos were simultaneously sent to multiple locations throughout the organization and employees would duplicate time-consuming searching and scanning efforts, resulting in costly redundancies. With the Documentum DAM solution, SIG has dramatically reduced the time it takes to fulfill an image request. All internal and external employees and partners are able to quickly and easily access content through SIG's Internet and Intranet sites, ensuring consistent branding by enabling information sharing among employees and external partners, image transformation to various formats and content reuse.

For more efficient team collaboration, SIG also implemented Documentum eRoom collaboration solution, making it available to all employees around the world. Using Documentum, distributed teams are able to work together in a secure, collaborative environment, efficiently manage projects, and share results, experiences and best practices.

"Until now, there was no central, uniform system for managing SIG's photos, images and historical archives. One of our goals was to establish a common platform for the management and use of all company images, to help maintain a consistent corporate identity and reduce the time and costs associated with searching for images, which we have achieved with the Documentum DAM solution," explains Karsten Lenzen, Documentum Project Manager at SIG IT. "In addition, many company projects will benefit from the eRoom implementation. Documentum eRoom is an effective collaboration tool and is very popular throughout the company."

"As with many of our customers, SIG standardized on and deployed Documentum throughout its worldwide organization, based on their initial success with Documentum," said Dave DeWalt, president of the Documentum division of EMC. "We look forward to continuing our relationship with SIG, helping them reduce costs, enhance operational efficiencies and collaborate more effectively with enterprise teams."
