Xplor International announced that Gartner will provide an additional day of knowledge at this year's Xplor global conference and exhibit when it presents a full-day program on Content Management Convergence and Compliance. The emphasis of the program, scheduled for Wednesday, October 27 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., will target the challenges and solutions around portals, content, collaboration, and compliance -- all essential issues facing businesses and management today. Xplor 2004 will be held in Dallas, Texas, USA from October 24-28.

"The marketplace is being flooded with technologies as superpower vendors vie for enterprise dominance and additional suppliers enter with 'smart enterprise suites,' making the arena crowded and confusing to most buyers," said Regina Casonato, Managing Vice President Knowledge Workplace, Gartner. "Our goal with the program at Xplor is to provide clarification and objective insight into the real needs and best solution for attendees' challenges."

Led by Gartner analysts, this full-day program will focus on the following topics:

* Portals, Content & Collaboration Marketplace. Navigate the changing marketplace and understand the core technologies that let companies build, share and access information. Gartner will discuss the trends, enterprise architectures and making convergence pay off.

* Enterprise Content Management Unmasked. The vagueness of the term "enterprise content management" (ECM) has created a lot of confusion in the industry. Gartner will help clarify ECM and provide attendees with an understanding of the suite vendors, their products and if their offerings actually translate into lower total cost of ownership, lower cost of deployment, improved ease-of-use, and/or better overall functionality.

* Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance. CIOs face an avalanche of requests to achieve transparency and compliance with international, federal, and state rules. This session will focus on the priorities for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and how they translate into technology, and what vendors offer the best compliance solutions.

The program also includes Gartner-moderated vendor and end-user panels. Gartner will ask the vendors the hard questions, and moderate the answers to keep them honest, and ensure their answers are meaningful and practical for the attendees. Finally, the organizations on the end-user panel share their experiences and best practices. Attendance to the full-day program is open to full and Wednesday one-day conference and exhibit registrants.
