EMC Corporation, provider of information storage and management, announced that EMC Documentum Web Content Management is positioned as a market leader in META Group's recently released METAspectrum(SM) evaluation of web content management (WCM) solutions in the North American market. META Group is a provider of information technology (IT) research, advisory services and strategic consulting. A copy of the report can be accessed at: http://www.documentum.com/news/reviews/review_meta_0704.htm .

The EMC Documentum Web Content Management products were recognized for performance and market presence. The EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform was also commended for its impressive breadth of functionality, from web content management and collaboration to records management and digital asset management.

The new METAspectrum evaluation provides an objective assessment of companies providing web content management solutions that empower business users, webmasters and website developers to create and manage websites, including capacity planning, site design/layout, look/feel navigation, content development, production, content delivery, session tracking and site evolution.

"We developed METAspectrum to enable IT professionals to quickly evaluate vendors based on their ability to deliver on the presence and performance criteria that matter most in a given market," said Gene Alvarez, vice president with META Group's Content and Collaboration Strategies group. "Failure to manage Web sites and their associated content can undermine company messages, decrease sales, increase staffing requirements and raise operational costs and risks. For that reason, internal and external Web presence has become a primary cost of doing business and will continue to be an area of focus for many business and service organizations."

"It is a distinct honor for EMC Documentum Web Content Management to be recognized by META Group among the leaders in the WCM market," said Dave DeWalt, Executive Vice President EMC Software Group and President of Documentum & LEGATO. "The study indicates that companies recognize the importance of WCM as part of their overall enterprise content management strategy. The EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform has gained its strong market presence and leadership position by helping customers resolve their most difficult enterprise content management challenges."
