Toyota Australia has named Vignette Corp. as a Trusted Partner in a deal that positions Vignette as the exclusive supplier of Web content management software solutions to Toyota Australia for the next four years.

Monica Ikladios, e-business manager for Toyota Australia, said, "We use Vignette extensively for online content management, and this partnership confirms our commitment to deploying Vignette wherever appropriate throughout our organization. By reusing the templates we create using Vignette, we can maintain brand consistency and cost efficiency."

"Toyota's 'kaizen' (continuous improvement) philosophy means that we are always striving to find new ways to enhance interactions with customers and partners. Vignette's Content Management solution will play a key role in our future strategies," Ikladios said.

Toyota first implemented Vignette(R) Content Management software in 2001 when it created a Web site for Australia's first energy-efficient car, the Toyota Prius. Customers can use the site to configure a Prius to suit their needs and order the car or request a dealer to contact them. The site was very successful and has since been extended to include all other Toyota models, including the popular Camry, Corolla, Avalon, Echo and RAV4.

"Our history with Vignette as well as its modular product strategy were key reasons for our decision to formalize our relationship," Ikladios said. "Knowing that we can choose to implement the modules of software we need without investing significant additional funds is very attractive. We have the added assurance of knowing that we can simply implement more modules as our business needs expand."

"Vignette has been working with Toyota for the past three years, and we are constantly impressed by Toyota's innovation, commitment to excellence and drive for greater efficiency," said Mike Kearney, senior director, Asia Pacific Marketing, for Vignette. "The success of Toyota's vehicle configuration sites demonstrates that customers continue to embrace online business models, highlighting the importance of creating and managing interactive, reliable customer sites. Vignette Content Management solutions allow Toyota to do this quickly and efficiently, reducing the time between a car leaving the production line and arriving in the customer's driveway."

Vignette allows organizations to consolidate information management regardless of whether the information is in documents, enterprise applications, servers or other silos throughout the organization. Vignette provides customers with an open, standards-based suite of services that address real business challenges and help customers achieve measurable business efficiency improvements.
