CipherTrust Named the Market Leader in Secure Content Management Appliances

CipherTrust, Inc., provider of messaging security, announced that IDC, the premier global market intelligence and advisory firm in the information technology and telecommunications industries, listed the company as the leading secure content management (SCM) appliance vendor, based upon revenues, attaining 19.9 percent of the marketplace in 2003. This data shows that CipherTrust has a firm hold on the messaging security market, a primary component of SCM, possessing greater than three times the market share of its closest direct competitor.
According to IDC, the "SCM appliance market has exploded onto the security scene," reaching $130.8 million in revenue during 2003, representing an 89 percent increase in market size in just 12 months. In fact, CipherTrust has grown even faster than the market with 160 percent growth in 2003, extending its lead over slower growth competition. "The SCM industry is booming and appliance-based solutions are at the center of this market," said Brian Burke, research manager, Security Products for IDC. "With new risks to corporate messaging systems emerging on a daily basis, this market will continue to show rapid growth in the coming years. As the market leader, CipherTrust is well positioned to continue to take advantage of the interest and investment in messaging security appliances."
The SCM appliance market is defined as a combination of hardware and software to primarily perform messaging security, web filtering and virus protection. IDC's report states that the combination of appliances' growing popularity in the security landscape with the strong demand for SCM solutions has made this market a hot growth area. CipherTrust's IronMail created this market by shipping the first e-mail security gateway in 2001, and since that point has led the market by introducing new technologies in the appliance form factor.
"During the past several years, CipherTrust has continued to expand market share in a very competitive market," said Mike Rothman, vice president of marketing for CipherTrust. "This is a testament of the strength of our technology and the trust we've earned protecting the e-mail infrastructures of over 1000 customers. Additionally, as the only pure play messaging security appliance vendor which has been profitable for the last eight consecutive quarters, our customers can depend on CipherTrust for the duration." 09.09.2004, CipherTrust, Inc.
