EMC Corporation, provider of information storage and management, announced that Cendant Corporation has selected EMC's content management software and networked storage as the centralized platform for supporting compliance and regulatory initiatives throughout the company. Cendant, one of the world's foremost providers of travel and real estate services, will use EMC's technology and services to build the foundation of its Business Records and Information Management System (BRIMS) -- a global platform for creating, accessing, archiving and ultimately managing the disposal of all types of digital and paper content, including email.

"Cendant is a large, diversified public company with operations around the world, so we decided to implement a unified approach to manage our information while meeting regulatory demands," said Richard J. Wolf, Senior Vice President, Legal and Corporate Compliance Officer for Cendant. "We will more effectively manage our affairs and enhance collaboration across the company, using an integrated global platform that enables us to maximize the value of our information."

Cendant will extend its EMC tiered storage environment and implement the EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform and EMC Centera(TM) content addressed storage technology, to manage content and ensure a uniform look-and-feel across its groups, and EMC Documentum Records Services for Email, to organize email messages and attachments, according to company policy.

"Global customers such as Cendant continue to turn to EMC to extract the maximum value from their information at the lowest total cost," said Dave DeWalt, Executive Vice President, EMC Software Group and President of Documentum and LEGATO. "The EMC Documentum platform combined with EMC's best- in-class storage delivers a true compliance platform for all types of initiatives."
