Open Text's Records Management Software Receives National Archives Approval
Open Text(TM) Corporation, provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, announced that its records management software has been approved by the UK Government's National Archives electronic records management systems (ERMS) program.
The UK government's ERMS program, which incorporates the Management of Classified Records, involves a rigorous testing process to ensure that organizations using records management software can adequately control and manage those records. The UK government has set a target for all central government organizations to be able to store and retrieve their public records electronically by 2005, to ensure that they are able to meet the demands of working in an electronic environment.
"Government agencies have made it a priority to improve information sharing and reduce paperwork," said Brenda Morris, UK Managing Director for Open Text. "At the same time, more information must be managed as official records, requiring secure electronic processes. With these trends, approval from the National Archive has become very important to our customers, who entrust their most sensitive documents to our records management software."
Open Text's records management software offers robust, Web-based features to securely manage both electronic and physical records in a consolidated interface. The solution lets customers apply retention and disposition schedules in accordance with corporate policies, and integrate their records management programs with the collaboration and content management capabilities of Livelink. Customers can easily deploy records management capabilities, while avoiding the complications of competing client-server solutions.
This is the fourth approval Open Text has received for records management under the program. Open Text has met previous standards set for records management software, making its solution one of the most successfully tested in the program. Open Text was also the first to receive Chapter 4 Classified Records certification under the U.S. Department of Defense's 5015.2 certification program, an important qualification for records management solutions used by the Department of Defense and other U.S. Federal agencies.
